We, the concerned citizens of Sonoma County demand that the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors and Dr. Tina Rivera, Director of Health Services take immediate action to terminate Dr. Sundari Mase, Sonoma County Health Officer on the basis of loss of trust and confidence to to perform her job successfully.

Dr. Mase was arrested on December 3, 2020 just past midnight for driving while intoxicated at nearly twice the legal limit at a time when the State of California was under a 10:00 pm curfew. This was Dr. Mase's second arrest, although the first conviction was expunged from her record. 15 hours after being released from jail, she was on a zoom call addressing the citizens of Sonoma County.

Dr. Mase notified her direct supervisor, Interim Director of Health Services Barbie Robinson at the time of the arrest, however the arrest was kept hidden from the public and from the Board of Supervisors. Dr. Mase has now admitted that she lied to Supervisor Lynda Hopkins about the first arrest but has had no choice but to be honest about it now.

Dr. Mase's disrespect for other's safety as well as blatantly disregarding the rules and mandates she placed on the citizens of Sonoma County demonstrates her poor judgment, her glaring hypocrisy and her out-right lies about the crimes she committed.  She cannot be trusted to lead nor give accurate and true information to the public, the County Supervisors or the citizens she has been entrusted to guide.

Dr. Mase has proven that she cannot be trusted by the public and her credibility to lead is now severely fractured.  The Board of Supervisors and Dr. Tina Rivera have no choice but to immediately terminate Dr. Mase and install an interim Health Officer to restore trust in Sonoma County Health and see Sonoma County through the endemic phase of COVID-19.
