The Issue

Living in the beautiful town of Dighton, MA has always been a source of pride and joy for me as a resident. However, the current practices of our Town's Conservation Agent, Lisa Caledonia, have led to significant frustrations and financial burdens for many of us.

Several residents, including myself, have encountered unnecessary obstacles when trying to upgrade or modify our properties due to Lisa's restrictive and often unreasonable interpretations of wetlands regulations. Many of us have been forced into expensive and time-consuming processes, such as soil testing and hiring attorneys, even when scientific evidence clearly disputes the presence of wetlands on our properties. This has resulted in thousands of dollars in fees, all of which could be avoided with a more streamlined and accurate assessment process.

Rather than acknowledging the expert findings and clear evidence provided, Lisa continues to doubt legitimate scientific results, further complicating property improvements and straining town resources. Her actions contradict the interest and well-being of town residents.

Dighton deserves a Conservation Agent who works collaboratively with residents for the betterment of our community while respecting healthy ecological standards. And it's imperative that this position is filled by a candidate who is open to listening to the community's needs and adjusting appropriately.

This petition seeks the immediate termination of Lisa Caledonia's tenure as the Town's Conservation Agent and urges the Town of Dighton to appoint a more fitting and cooperative replacement. Together, we can make our town a more conducive environment for growth and development while safeguarding our natural surroundings appropriately.

Please join me in advocating for a positive change by signing this petition to bring transparency, fairness, and efficiency back to the Dighton Conservation Office.
