Term limits for Supreme Court Justices

Term limits for Supreme Court Justices
HOLD THE SUPREME COURT ACCOUNTABLE
Right now, a petition on change.org to defend Roe v. Wade has 100,000 signatures. Unfortunately, the entire premise of this petition is now defunct: Roe v. Wade is now gone, and it's never coming back.
But that doesn't mean you can't defend reproductive rights. The problem is finding the right strategy.
How can we change the Supreme Court's decision? One way to do so is making Supreme Court justices more accountable to the people. Unelected, lifetime appointments to the Supreme Court are not the way things should be.
According to the University of Cincinnati Law Review, only 28% of Americans believe Supreme Court justices should serve for life. Supreme Court justices were once viewed as "above the fray" of politics. Now, we know that they are just partisan actors.
House Democrats have already proposed a bill called the Supreme Court Term Limits and Regular Appointments Act which would create term limits of 18 years for Supreme Court justices. Right now, the average justice spends 28 years on the court.
Tell Congress that you support this bill to hold Supreme Court justices more accountable to the people by signing this petition. While the connection between term limits and reproductive rights may not seem straightforward, term limits actually impact far more than reproductive rights: in practice, it creates stacked courts that force the will of the minority on the majority.
Furthermore, by signing this petition, you are expressing support for the idea that this change should be retroactive: in other words, all current appointees who have served longer than 18 years would be automatically out! That includes you, Clarence.
