Hello Berkeley Members!

I am posting an update regarding Tennis Coach, Todd Assini.  It was 2 years ago that a petition was sent out due to the Board's decision to release Todd Assini as the Tennis Coach.  The voices of many members were heard by the Board and Todd has been retained as the coach, with a contract renewal in 2022 and then again in 2023.  A job description was put in place and Todd has done a great job offering and holding clinics, mixers, fundraisers and lessons for adults, young adults and children of all ages, as well as summer camps for almost 100 kids! 

The Board, however, has once again, taken it upon themselves to make the decision to replace Todd in the next few months as they actively seek a replacement!  Once again, the Swim and Tennis Committee WAS NOT consulted or informed of this decision!  And to my knowledge, no one on our 5 tennis teams, the adults, young adults or kids who take consistent lessons were asked their thoughts about how they think the program has been over the past 2 years!  The board's complaint....not enough participation (says people who don't even play tennis?!).  The last mixer Todd offered in June for Tunnel to Towers was rained out on the original date, so he offered it over the next two weekends and had 36 participants! Todd continues to go above and beyond to keep our courts clean and stocked with water, takes great care of the clay courts, and does several other maintenance items that go unseen....things that a maintenance crew should do, not a tennis coach!    

I am asking for your support!  Please sign the petition if you would like to see Todd continue as our Tennis Coach!  If you would like to take it a step further, write an email to the Board with your own experience with Todd! Time is of the essence, so I appreciate your time and attention to this petition!  Let your voice by heard! Thank you so much!!
