Friends and Parents of Woodstock, CT Schools: A group of parents and students are working to start an Environmental Club at WMS- and we need your help to convince the school that many in the community want to educate our students to be forward-thinking stewards of nature. 

Whether or not you have a student who would be part of the club, lend your support to this group that will benefit our whole community by signing and sharing this petition. 

We, the undersigned, petition school administrators to lend support for the Future Earth, Environmental Club, of Woodstock Middle School. 

With a mission to “educate individuals for today and tomorrow,” the Woodstock Public School District has a commitment to prepare our children with the knowledge and skills to excel in an ever-changing world with a climate that is impacting their today and shaping their tomorrow. 

In support of the school’s mission, and with the acknowledgement that it takes a community to educate our children, we have created the Future Earth, Environmental Club, led by environmental scientist Ken Wolslegel and other parent volunteers.  

With the Business Club as an example, we’re confident that the Environmental Club fits the template for a successful club. We are requesting the school’s support through time, space, and promotion – a designated after school meeting time, a classroom for the club to meet in, and permission to publicize the club to students and families. Adult instruction and supervision will be provided by parent volunteers who are willing to complete any necessary steps to be allowed to work in this capacity. 

Grounded in science, the Environmental Club will focus on age-appropriate awareness and action. Students will learn how daily choices impact our climate and will feel empowered to make lasting, impactful change in their homes and school.
