Recent remarks from President Donald Trump suggesting he could “take” Cuba and “do anything” he wants with it have raised serious concerns about the future of U.S. foreign policy.

Cuba is a sovereign nation — not a possession to be claimed. Statements about “taking” another country risk escalating tensions, undermining international norms, and putting lives at risk. Americans across the political spectrum believe that military power should be used carefully, with clear purpose and respect for global stability.

This is not about politics — it’s about preventing unnecessary conflict and respecting national sovereignty.

We call on President Donald Trump and his administration to reject any notion of military takeover of Cuba, and commit to diplomacy and peaceful engagement instead of escalation.
