The Issue

Diana Loginova—known to her fans as Naoko—is an 18-year-old student and street musician in St. Petersburg, Russia. Her only “crime”? Singing songs critical of the war in Ukraine and performing music by artists labeled as dissidents.

For that, she’s now in jail.

Loginova has been arrested three times in the past month alone—first for “organizing a mass gathering” by performing on the street, then for petty “hooliganism,” and again for performing protest music. She’s been cycling through short sentences in what human rights groups call “carousel arrests”—a strategy meant to keep peaceful dissidents trapped in perpetual detention.

This is a clear violation of freedom of expression, artistic freedom, and youth civil rights.

We are calling on the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, St. Petersburg local authorities, and President Vladimir Putin’s administration to:

  • Immediately release Diana Loginova from custody and drop all charges.
  • End the repeated cycle of carousel arrests targeting peaceful performers and young protesters.
  • Respect artistic expression and the right to peaceful public gatherings protected under international human rights law.

Diana is not a politician. She’s not a journalist. She’s a teenager with a keyboard—singing for peace, not war. No one should be imprisoned for playing music in public.

Sign this petition to demand her freedom—and send a message to the Kremlin: the world is watching.
