The Pope declared that condoms use is acceptable but only in extreme cases. This is an improvement over a condom ban, but it isn’t enough. He must acknowledge that HIV/AIDS is not a disease of the guilty or immoral, that HIV/AIDS increasingly infects women, and that condoms should be used by everyone, not just those who are most at risk.
