The sight of pigeons enduring unimaginable suffering is heart-wrenching. These innocent birds are subjected to live pigeon shoots, a cruel event where they are released from cages just to be shot down. Many pigeons are wounded and left to languish in agony. This tradition is not only inhumane but also barbaric, leaving behind a trail of suffering and death.

Pigeon shoots are nothing but a gratuitous form of entertainment that desensitizes participants to violence and pain.  A significant number of these birds are not killed outright and endure painful, lingering deaths. The practice is so gruesome that it has already been banned in numerous states as well as in many countries across the world.

There are countless other forms of entertainment and sport that do not involve the senseless killing of animals. We call on the Pennsylvania Game Commission to prioritize compassion and ethics. Please stop allowing the senseless cruelty of live pigeon shoots to persist. Humane alternatives and community events should replace this outdated and inhumane tradition. It is time for Pennsylvania to align with modern ethical standards and showcase its commitment to animal welfare.
