Last fall, President Obama made a historic pledge to end childhood hunger by 2015. To help move this goal forward, the President must include substantial new funding in his FY 2011 budget for child nutrition programs. In addition, Congress must make important changes to child nutrition programs through the legislative process to ensure that these programs are more effective in reaching needy children.

Federal child nutrition programs–including the School Breakfast and School Lunch Programs, the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)–play a critical role in addressing the needs of food-insecure children. We need your help to make sure these programs are strengthened.

It is up to the anti-hunger community to keep up the pressure and ensure that President Obama’s budget includes enough funding for child nutrition programs to end childhood hunger by 2015.
