Tell the MLB: Stop Aquarium Backstop at Marlins' Stadium
The Issue
The Florida Marlins recently announced that the backstop at their new stadium, slated to open in 2012, will feature two aquariums containing tropical saltwater fish. Each aquarium will be constructed with fiberglass, but the tanks will regularly be hit with stray pitches or foul balls. The fish will be also be subjected to bright lights and the noise of the 37,000 fans. A baseball park is not a humane environment for fish. Fish are live animals, and should not be treated as decorations.
Please ask the MLB to reconsider their support of building this cruel aquarium at the new Marlins stadium.
