I'm incredibly disappointed to receive this reply from an Executive Director at Economic Developmemt Queensland instead of the Premier.

It's clear from this that the Queensland Government does not accept any responsibility for our obligations as part of the RAMSAR agreement covering Moreton Bay and that economic development at any cost is more important than protecting our environment. https://www.environment.gov.au/water/wetlands/publications/australias-obligations-under-ramsar-convention-legislative-support-wetlands-fact-sheet

While the Queensland Government says it has not received any development application, its actions in progressing approvals has largely allowed this process to be bypassed.

On 19 June 2015, Deputy Premier, the Hon. Jacqui Trad, issued a media statement announcing 'The proposal to revitalise Toondah Harbour has been formally endorsed by the Palaszczuk Labor Government with the $1.3 billion project set to generate more than 1,000 Queensland construction jobs.

Acting Premier Jackie Trad joined Redland City Council Mayor Cr Karen Williams today to announce the Queensland Government will move forward with the exciting project.

“The Toondah Harbour revitalisation project will create more than 1,000 jobs during construction and an estimated 500 jobs a year post construction,” Ms Trad said. http://statements.qld.gov.au/Statement/2015/6/19/plan-to-revitalise-toondah-harbour-given-the-greenlight

In January 2016, the Queensland Government, Redland City Council, and Walker entered into a development agreement and infrastructure agreement, which will see Walker deliver $116 million of transport and community infrastructure at Toondah Harbour at no cost to the ratepayer or taxpayer. This catalyst infrastructure will include a new ferry terminal, increased car parking, and a tourism precinct. http://www.walkercorp.com.au/eLetter/2017-05-03-development-update/index.html

As you may be aware, this agreement made it possible for Walker to progress approvals to The Federal Government which eventually led to then Environment Minister, now Treasurer, Josh Frydenberg enabling Walker to refer their development proposal (including their own Environment Impact Statement) as a 'controlled action' to the Australian Minister for The Environment.  https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-12-09/the-developer-the-whistleblower-and-the-minister-toondah-harbour/10487806

As for writing to the Hon. Melissa Price MP, I already mentioned our petition in my letter.

After this brush off, I'm more determined than ever to do what I can to support the growing community network standing together to oppose this environmentally destructive development that will cause irreversible damage.

Thank you for your support, please stay strong. Together, we can put planet before profit and keep Toondah beautiful.
