Dear Premier

I respectfully request that your government withdraw its support for the Walker Corporation's 3600 apartment, 200 berth marina development over RAMSAR listed wetland at Toondah Harbour at Cleveland.

I strongly object to the sell off of 42 hectares of this ecologically important wetland in the Moreton Bay Marine Park for private development.

I believe that if this development proceeds, this rich tidal ecology and the many species who call Toondah and surrounds home including the endangered Eastern curlew, other shorebirds, koalas, turtles, sea grass and multiple marine species will be lost forever.

The constant dredging and dumping of the spoil into the surrounding bay to service the marina and the associated increase in boat strikes as well as pollution and traffic from the 3600 apartments will cause 'permanent and irreversible damage' to this precious part of Moreton Bay.

Instead of selling off this public land, fencing out the public and concreting over this marine sanctuary, I believe this private apartment development could be accommodated on already heavily altered urban land in the area in and around the existing ferry terminal which could still be upgraded.

As a custodian of our state’s future and our natural assets, I hope that on your watch your government will act to protect and respect this RAMSAR-listed jewel so future generations can sit by these shores and still delight at the sight of koalas and Eastern curlews instead of a sea of apartments blocking this view.
