Tell Speaker Boehner: Stop the Rape-Audits Bill

Imagine having to recount a sexual assault - a horrifyingly painful, personal experience - to a tax collector.

That could be a reality if an anti-choice bill moving through Congress passes. H.R. 3 could force sexual-assault survivors who access abortion care to prove the assault occurred.

And it doesn't stop there. This is just the latest revelation about an anti-choice bill that is so extreme it would essentially end insurance coverage of abortion in the new health system. That means if your private insurance covers abortion now, you could lose it.

Anti-choice politicians in Congress are working furiously to make it as difficult as possible for any woman – under any circumstance – to access abortion care. Believe it or not, this legislation has enough votes to pass – but we’re not giving up. We need to collect as many signatures as possible, right now.

Tell Speaker Boehner that the War on Women must end. Sign our petition calling on him to put a stop to H.R.3.

Letter to
Representative John Boehner
I urge you, in your capacity as speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, to put a stop to the War on Women, including H.R.3.

H.R.3 is an attempt to restrict a woman's right to choose and goes far beyond current law. A tax expert recently told Congress that H.R.3 could subject survivors of rape and incest who choose abortion care to audits by the Internal Revenue Service. This legislation goes even further by manipulating the tax code to advance a political, anti-choice agenda.

On top of abortion audits for sexual-assault survivors, H.R.3 essentially would end insurance coverage of abortion in the new health system. Women could lose coverage they currently have.

Congress should focus on improving our economy and creating jobs, not on attacking women's freedom and privacy.
