Tell President Obama you support transparency and accountability
The very fact that photos of torture and abuse exist, only underscores the need for transparency, accountability and for a full investigation of crimes committed.
The President is listening to and weighing carefully the advice of those in his administration on these issues. But he also needs to hear from concerned citizens like you.
Join the ACLU in calling on President Obama to put the full weight of his leadership behind our call for transparency and accountability.

On your first full day in office, you issued an executive order that turned a new page on open government and emphasized the importance of transparency, stating, "A democracy requires accountability, and accountability requires transparency... In the face of doubt, openness prevails."
The administration has begun to live up to this commitment by releasing the graphic torture memos that provided the legal justification for the CIA's torture program.
Transparency is the first step towards accountability. Only by acknowledging the crimes of the past and achieving accountability can we move forward and ensure that these atrocities are not repeated.
I hope you will continue on the path towards transparency and open government.
