Since July 4th, we have been peacefully occupying the sidewalk outside the ICE field office at 535 N. Alameda Streetin downtown Los Angeles. Every single day since then — without exception — we have shown up to take a stand against the violence of ICE and the silent complicity of our city.

Every day, we risk arrest simply for existing in public space.

LAPD officers have:

Arrested peaceful demonstrators with no warning
Confiscated shade structures in the middle of a heat wave
Taken water and food from unhoused and protesting individuals alike
Trampled First Amendment rights
Attempted to intimidate medics, legal observers, and journalists
We are calling on Mayor Karen Bass to immediately support a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) that stops this abuse and protects our constitutional right to protest.

 
We Are Demanding That the TRO:
Prohibits LAPD from arresting peaceful demonstrators at 535 Alameda
Stops police from destroying or seizing shade canopies, umbrellas, tarps, or other heat protection
Prevents the removal of life-sustaining supplies like water, food, and first aid
Protects the presence and function of medics, legal observers, and press
Stops all collaboration between LAPD and federal ICE agents aimed at suppressing protest
 
This Is About Basic Human Rights.
We are not violent. We are not armed. We are not disruptive.
We are simply refusing to look away while ICE operates in our city.

Mayor Bass cannot continue to claim she supports human rights while LAPD arrests and brutalizes Angelenos for opposing deportations.

 
What We’re Asking:
We demand that Mayor Karen Bass publicly support and enforce the TRO and immediately direct LAPD to:

Stop all arrests of peaceful demonstrators
Leave up shade structures and life-sustaining resources
Protect — not punish — First Amendment activity
 
Every day we’re out there — and every day, they try to break our spirit.
But we are still here. And we’re not going anywhere.
