Tell Kellogg: Eliminate Cancer-Causing Food Dyes from Products

Tell Kellogg: Eliminate Cancer-Causing Food Dyes from Products

The Issue

American shoppers may notice that a box of Kellogg's strawberry-flavored Nutri-Grain bars contains the synthetic food dyes Red 40, Yellow 6, and Blue 1. In the U.K., however, a box of the same product comes colored with all-natural red beet, annatto, and paprika extract.

While Europe encourages food producers to ditch synthetic food dyes, America's Food and Drug Administration fails to regulate these dyes despite mounting health risks. Studies have linked artificial dyes to cancer, hyperactivity in kids, and allergic reactions.

In the absence of federal regulation, some companies like Starbucks, NECCO, and Frito-Lay are voluntarily switching to all-natural food colorants. The Kellogg Company isn't one of them. The corporation continues to sell products with all-natural extracts in the U.K. and foods with synthetic dyes in the U.S.

It's time for Kellogg to start protecting consumers' health. Sign our petition asking Kellogg to use only all-natural colorants in its American products, as the company does in the U.K.
