The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee just passed out of committee a strong bipartisan bill—the Restore the Gulf Coast States Act—which will ensure the bulk of BP funds go towards restoring the natural resources and economy of the Gulf Coast (and NOT just be diverted to the federal treasury). Almost a year and half has gone by since the BP oil spill devastated the region, and it is time Congress acted to make sure monies are appropriately distributed. The RESTORE Act is great progress in the Senate and the same degree of effort and prioritization needs to be made in the House.

Ask the leaders of the House Gulf Coast Caucus to push through committee equally impressive and thorough versions of a bill to the House floor by October 30th.
