Tell EPA to enforce Clean Air in National Parks

Tell EPA to enforce Clean Air in National Parks

The Issue

The National Parks Conservation Association is leading a strong initiative to get the EPA to enforce one of the most important of the Clean Air Act programs: the Regional Haze Rule. According to NPCA:

"National parks around the country suffer from hazy and unhealthy air. More than 30 years ago Congress told EPA to clean up antiquated coal-fired power plants and factories responsible for hazy air in America's largest national parks and wilderness areas. But EPA has missed one deadline after another, and to this day has failed to put in place haze cleanup plans for nearly every state. As a result, not only do our parks continue to suffer hazy skies, but our communities are breathing the same unhealthy air."

Here is what you can do. NPCA is sending delegates to Washington, DC on October 17 and you can add your voice to the effort. Tell EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson to enforce the Regional Haze Rule, the Clean Air Act program designed to improve air quality in national parks, wilderness areas, and wildlife refuges.
