Dr. King would be disappointed in many things that have happened in Denver over the past few years. Do you think that he would have supported destroying historic City Park Golf Course, an affordable, main stay in the minority community for over 100 years.... OR the 1965-style expansion of unhealthy Highway I-70 through minority, poor neighborhoods in Denver? Would he have approved of digging an open dirt trench through a Superfund Site in a mostly minority neighborhood in Cole or building a huge outfall for polluting toxic storm water in a SUPERFUND SITE neighborhood that is 84% latino with many low income families?
All for the "short term" benefit of high paid consultants, bankers , developers and foreign cabals ( think RTD A Train) ?
Highway I 70 expansion, Platte to Park Hill Drainage , Superfund sites... they are all connected.
Denver is planning projects HIGHWAY AND DRAINAGE projects that may have seemed appropriate in 1965... but will they protect our families and our community in the 21st century?
Martin Luther King believed in the power of the people to overcome oppression and injustice. He believed in the collective intelligence and wisdom of the people and so do we.
We hope to see many of you on Monday, January 16 at the MLK Memorial in City Park golf Course at 9:30.
LET YOUR VOICES BE HEARD.

Denver deserves science based solutions to the challenges that we face in the 21st Century. City Park Golf Course is valuable , open land with huge trees and vegetation. It is one of the best rain water mitigations systems in the world. Why is Mayor Hancock going to chop down a large part of our urban canopy to install a 1965-style drainage sump in City Park Golf Course?
