Tell Congress to stop targeting minor car mods

The Issue

Cars have always been a hobby and passion of mine. I take pride in the effort I put into maintaining and understanding how they operate, and like many others, I enjoy driving them responsibly. It's fulfilling to drive from point A to point B, but lately, it seems as if it's becoming a crime in itself.

Currently, many law-abiding drivers are being unfairly targeted and fined over minor car modifications, such as exhaust sounds or music. This is despite the fact that we aren't reckless drivers tearing up the city streets. The true spirit of responsible car enthusiasts is being overshadowed by these strict regulations.

The frustration is not just mine; countless drivers across the nation feel persecuted for their harmless modifications. In fact, these regulations waste police resources that could be directed towards tackling serious crimes that truly impact public safety. It's mind-boggling that minor issues like car mods are given precedence over real threats that endanger lives and property.

According to the National Institute of Justice, merely 5% of police resources are spent on traffic enforcement matters, which includes minor violations like car mods. Redirecting these efforts towards significant public safety threats could benefit society much more. Real crime rates concerning burglary, assault, and substance abuse still haunt our communities. These are the areas that require immediate attention.

Moreover, studies show that cities focusing on severe crime reduction have noted a drastic improvement in community safety and trust. The balancing of priorities in police resource allocation needs to happen.

I urge Congress to reconsider and amend these overly broad laws targeting minor car modifications. We need a balanced approach that respects both the passion of car enthusiasts and the urgency of addressing real criminal activity.

Please join me in petitioning Congress to refocus their efforts where they truly matter. Your signature can make a difference in restoring priorities and ensuring police resources protect public safety effectively. Sign the petition today and help drive change!
