Tell Congress: Don’t Put Big Airlines In Charge
This petition had 13,783 supporters
Right now, Congress is considering legislation that would hurt millions of consumers and communities across this country by turning oversight of our nation’s aviation system over to private control.
Tell Congress to stand up for everyday Americans and say NO to privatization of our air traffic control system.
This plan to privatize air traffic control would be harmful to consumers and communities around the country.
Small and mid-sized communities have already seen cuts of 20% in commercial airline service, meanwhile the airlines have increasingly raised fees, crammed passengers into smaller spaces, and ignored complaints by travelers.
Now the airlines are pushing to privatize the air traffic control system, which would threaten the economic well-being of businesses, consumers and communities around our country.
The airlines would oversee everything from investments and access to airports, to infrastructure investments, to what flights go where, and consumers and smaller communities would have no recourse. That is why by a 2-1 margin, Americans oppose turning over our air traffic control system to a private, non-profit entity.
Air travel in this country should be held accountable to Congress, citizens and local communities, not the commercial airlines.
That is why Washington needs to hear from you today. Tell your elected representative to say NO to privatization of air traffic control!
