Tell Congress and Your State to Say NO to REAL ID
Tell Congress and Your State to Say NO to REAL ID
The Issue
Americans face a serious threat to their liberty and privacy. Regardless of where you stand on the immigration and national security debates, efforts to implement the REAL ID Act should alarm you.
There is absolutely no evidence that the data on these ID's would be secure. The legislation does an inadequate job of requiring standards and rules for the information stored making the misappropriation of this information a grave danger.
Beyond the invasion of privacy, this effort is also poorly conceived. Standardized identification does little against existing threats but would cost tens of billions of dollars to implement.
Members of Congress, state leaders, and ordinary citizens are beginning to fight back. Join them and speak out against REAL ID.
Congress must not authorize this violation of privacy. States must not allow the federal government to coerce cooperation. And citizens must not acquiescence to this exposure.
