Tell Ahsha Safai: San Francisco Stands Against Genocide. Vote Yes on Ceasefire Resolution!
We are a diverse group of San Francisco residents who are calling on District 11 Supervisor Ahsha Safai to vote yes on the recently introduced Ceasefire Resolution.
Because time is of the essence and Palestinian poets, journalists, educators, and children are among the over (updated) 30,000 people being killed by brutal Israeli attacks every minute, we are asking Ahsha Safai to vote yes on this resolution to move it out of the Rules Committee and onto the Board of Supervisors vote as soon as he possibly can. We know San Francisco is an important voice in the call to our national leaders for a ceasefire, and we are eager to join other municipalities and labor unions who have already done so.
Peace in Palestine will save the lives of our loved ones, and our friends’ and neighbors’ loved ones, in both Israel and Palestine. An end to the violence there will also help quell anti-Palestinian, Islamaphobic, and Antisemitic violence here in San Francisco and around the world.
The horror inflicted upon Palestinian civilians for over 60+ days has demolished a majority of the housing in Gaza. The conditions there are dire, as people have no shelter and no access to clean water, health care, or food. As was evidenced by the 2,000 San Franciscans who spoke in favor of this resolution at City Hall, San Francisco residents want an end to this suffering now. We stand with 76% of all Democrats nationwide and 61% of all US voters in our call for a ceasefire.
As the mayoral race approaches, San Francisco voters are looking for leaders who respect and represent our values. Tens of thousands of us have filled the streets, week after week, and we will continue to do so until a ceasefire is called. We cannot stand by while 12% of our tax dollars go to the killing of Palestinians, while our own schools suffer and so many San Franciscans struggle. We call on Ahsha Safai to stand with us in our demands for a ceasefire now.
We will remember who stood with us in this crucial moment. Please sign this petition to urge Ahsha Safai to join us in our call.
