Budget Set for Referendum

This past Sunday, The Day covered taxpayers concerns over the pre-k expansion:
After many meetings with the administration and some with BOE members, it is evident that the administration is choosing to push forward with the budget as it stands.
Here are some of the justifications why it's OK according to the administration to push this through: it's only a "small percentage of our taxes," "we need this to increase enrollment," "no one is being cut from k-12," "if the budget doesn't pass, other cuts will be made but this program is staying," "Regionalization won't make it past the lawsuits from Fairfield County"
SO - it comes down to if you are or are not OK with a 2.29% increase in the Region 18 budget that does include staffing cuts to K-12, unfunded facility expenses and new, added, unfunded programming when our enrollment is steady, maybe decreasing.
Please continue to share with fellow taxpayers in Lyme and Old Lyme, thank you!
