Freedom and Prison Reform

The Issue

Kenneth Pilcher has been lost in the criminal justice system. He has served over 24 years for a crime of passion where a girl friend's ex attacked him and he protected himself which resulted in the man's accidental demise. Pilcher was lead into the courts with proper counsel, misguided information disemminated to jury and without an option to plee. He has served the time without any occurrences, obtaining various vocational trainings, licensures and certifications. His convictions has the stipulations of time served and parole which means at anytime he could be freed. _
There have been many people paroled under 585 for much viscious crimes like double homicide, life without parole after serving 20 years were able to parole. Please support our efforts to change the laws and update the prison systems so we don't lose human beings in the system of injustice.  We are petitioning the Governor of the great state of Mississippi to issue a pardon and or time served for Kenneth Pilcher and others like him, who have rehabitated, as evidence by him not having a single strike on his record. He is able to come out and start work immediately, as he has obtained a barbering license with the state of Mississippi, a serve safe certification, alcohol and drug rehab counselor, tutor and many other vocations that will help him remain a gainfully employed, productive citizen. The victim's family support his release and many others feel very strongly that he was wrongfully convicted and should have had charges drastically reduced to manslaughter and or justifiable, as he was protecting himself. Too often, we lose our young people who are not abreast of the system nor able to afford the proper counsel. Kenneth Pilcher's time has been served. We asking for his release and justice now. Reform is necessary.  -
We are of Dr King and strongly support the beliefs: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.” - Dr.MartinLutherKingJr
