Justice for 2019 Tata Harrier
The Issue
Hello TATA Motors. This is to express gratitude for manufacturing a good product. As a Land Rover pedigree, Harrier is one of the best machines, so far as efficiency, speed, fuel consumption and safety are concerned. What's more, the car can go anywhere regardless of the terrain. It is certainly made a good choice in opting for it.
However, we understand that manufacturing errors do happen. It’s been almost 12 months of availability and during this period people have given periodic feedbacks pertaining to very basic nuances for example-
- High NVH: Kryotec 2.0 is crazy loud beyond 2000 RPMs. This is even more of a concern when we know Jeep and MG use the same Fiat motor with more power but still managed to keep NVH relatively under control.
- Infotainment System: This has to be the biggest gripe. The defining feature on interiors has most flaws. It lags anytime. With Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, it lags even more. We do appreciate voice control, but one cannot scroll contacts using steering buttons. This infotainment system doesn’t go with the car price.
- Rattles: Although the fit and finish is very good, the doors rattle with quarter the max volume of subwoofer. Never saw this in premium vehicles with even louder subwoofers.
- Large OVRMs: Large ORVMs along with super strong A-pillar creates an unpredictable blind spot dangerous for both inside passengers and anyone or anything on the road.
- Needless to mention other quality control issues that people are facing and posting on social media.
We do appreciate the fact the R&D team has worked half the way and new Harrier comes with smaller ORVMs and quieter engine with low NVH, this leaves the owners of first generation Harrier with a sense of being cheated as if we were guinea pigs for initial testing. Moreover, launching a revamp just after a year of launch definitely makes first gen owners of faulty cars a little more anxious. As loyal customers, we are happy for TATA’s growth but TATA at the same time should become a customer oriented brand.
We therefore require you to address these problems at the earliest:
- High NVH: Either provide extra damping and softer high quality mounts for engine or give and ECU update.
- Infotainment System: Either make Visteon work hard on updates or change Visteon silver-box. I like my music system to be working smooth.
- Rattles: Fix the doors with better mounts or provide enough padding.
- Large ORVMs: Replace ORVMs for free. Previous ORVMs are a disaster.
- Fix quality control issues for free.
- Provide Panoramic Sunroof as an option but on viable prices.
Don’t make your customers feel left out and especially when Harrier looks like a global product, service it like one.
Thank You!
