Transgender Men and Non-Binary Individuals Need Menstrual Equality

The Issue

Have you ever been caught off guard by your menstrual cycle starting when you weren’t prepared with the appropriate supplies? You probably made a run for the nearest restroom, where you hoped that you could locate the proper supplies from the vending machine. Transgender males and non-binary individuals don't have the option of walking into a men's restroom and finding any such machines that could offer the required supplies. There have been many discussions about menstrual equity in recent years. Those discussions are about making products affordable, but this discussion needs to go one step deeper. We need to bring awareness for menstrual equality and making the products not just affordable, but accessible to all genders. Menstrual products are not a luxury. They are a necessity and should be made available to all genders that menstruate.
The Menstrual Equity Act of 2021 requires all public elementary and middle schools to stock 50% of the schools' bathrooms with free menstrual products. The act fails to recognize the need for these same products to be supplied in the other 50% of bathrooms, the men’s restrooms, for transgender, non-binary or intersex individuals that don’t use the women’s facilities. The solution to this problem is simple; we need to establish standards to recognize that all genders menstruate.

Sign my petition and make your voices heard that ALL restrooms should be equally stocked with menstrual products for all genders to access.
