Reinstate the Castle Grounds Lido in Tamworth

The Issue

In 1937, Tamworth Borough Council built a wonderful Lido in the Castle Grounds, replacing the Victorian-era baths in the Town Centre.

Generations of families enjoyed the open air swimming, and, when it closed in 1989 it was a lost piece of heritage.

In the last 10 years, there has been a resurgence in 'heritage' lido sites, all of which are massive tourist draws and profitable for their owners - the local councils for the main.

The site of the Tamworth Lido exists - the building exist, as do the pools (albeit filled in).

I call on Tamworth Council to reinstate and renovate the Lido, returning it to it's former use for the benefit of not only Tamworth residents, but also to draw in much needed visitors from outside the town, adding to our wonderful Castle as a destination to be proud of!
