The problem I would like to solve is promoting rape culture in our school district. When you tell young women to cover up you are damaging their confidence, and not only that but your teaching the boys we go to school with it’s okay to be “distracted” by women. If they are distracted because our shoulders, stomachs, legs, etc are showing then THEY are the problem. Women should feel empowered and confident in their bodies. Not oppressed by people who are supposed to have their best interest in mind. Young women in our school are tired of being told to cover up because our bodies are “distracting” . OUR BODIES ARE OURS ALONE. How is it fair for some 60 year old man to tell us what can be put on our bodies ? Are you buying our school clothes ? No your not. My body my choice . We are done being silenced so please hear us out. Even small revisions to the dress code would help. Crop tops aren’t distracting because my stomach shouldn’t be distracting you. Tank tops aren’t distracting they cover everything besides my shoulders and arms, and how is it your right to tell me the shorts I have on my body are too short? DONT LOOK. I think a lot of the things this school district does is done for the simple reason of controlling the kids they teach . Stop the hate against the women your supposed to be educating. I’m tired of having to come to school dressed the way I do. I want to be able to be comfortable in my own skin. So do all the rest of the girls at this school. We want to be heard and we want the dress code revised .
