This week, New York enacted the first law in the US granting domestic workers – nannies, housekeepers, elderly care workers – basic labor protections.

It guarantees minimum wage, overtime, a day off each week, three paid vacation days a year. Now, domestic workers will enjoy the same rights many of us take for granted.But for the law to matter, people need to know about it.
