The Issue
Protest the block scheduled electives at GWMS!
Some supporter voices from our school:
- Both of my elective classes would be better suited to the non-block schedule because they were designed under the non-block schedule, as well as the nature of language and band.
- I am in a similar situation with my orchestra and french electives. No one asked the students, teachers, or parents about what they think of the block electives. Like mentioned by the creator of this petition, orchestra requires daily practice to stay in shape. Similarly, language skills improve better when given daily practice, the exact reason Duo pushes you to keep your streak. In addition to needing daily practice, holding an instrument can be awkward and tiring. 1.5 hours of this is quite a long time, causing aches in the players. Bass players also have to stand to play their instrument, and AN HOUR AND A HALF is SO LONG TO STAND UP! Save us and bring back our old schedule.
- The non-block schedule was a lot better because I think that having 2 45-minute periods created less exhaustion
- Electives off the block help students gain consistency in their practice and learning.
- block is bad too long
