I am a current student at the university of central Florida (UCF). I come to say how glad I am to be a knight as far as academics goes, but we all know the elephant in the room… the “National Championship” banner must be taken down effective immediately. We are not only NOT the 2017 national champs, we didn’t even make the playoffs. This is common knowledge I am sure, but to take action and actually make a national championship banner in the stadium is unbelievable. This would take so much approval from so many people and now I can’t help but to ask, what went wrong and whose overall decision was it? Sure, former governor Rick Scott and everyone then thought we were worthy but were we thinking about the future of our sports program or thinking about what students would think in the future?? The answer to that is neither. The best thing we have done as a program was move to the big 12 and I think we will do great but that all starts with accountability. To accept the fact that we did not win or even make it to the playoffs with an undefeated record is much more of a win factor than taking a false throne. To me this seems like something the salty alumni decided on without a second thought as to what our future may be. So, I come here today to put a stop to claiming a false championship of 2017 and petition to take down that banner that will haunt us until the day we die. GKCO, but come on, let’s do better!!
