Take Blackfish off of Netflix UK!

Take Blackfish off of Netflix UK!

The Issue

Blackfish is full of misinformation and cruel lies. Dawn Brancheau’s death with the accident of the orca Tilikum is used in a horrible manner to create a psychological emotional thriller. All the former trainers in the video were either fired or demoted and hadn’t worked there in over a decade, especially not with Tilikum or closely with Dawn, they have no experience to talk of and blatantly lie, talking over clips that have nothing to do with them and what they actually did during their work at SeaWorld. Also, so many of the ‘facts’ are outdated and very misleading. SeaWorld hasn’t taken an orca from the wild in 35+ years and stopped breeding in 2017. Plus the recorded ‘crying’ of the orca is fake and never even happened. So much of it has been made dramatic to have a strong effect to people who do not know much about SeaWorld and what they do. The people in the documentary simply just want to see SeaWorld’s downfall for revenge and of course they get lots of money and fame from this, disgustingly by talking about Dawn’s death. SeaWorld commit so much to research and data with scientists, these orcas are ambassadors for our oceans. Blackfish shouldn’t be able to be watched in the UK by such a widely known site that is Netflix, by Netflix UK having it on there it shows they support and agree with it, which they definitely should not.

By signing this petition you will stop such a big streaming site in the UK from promoting Blackfish which greatly affect modern accredited places like SeaWorld who have the best top animal care and have rescued over 45,000 animals and many have been released. Orcas at SeaWorld have been crucial and vital for orcas in the wild, bringing a lot of change especially in people’s attitudes, Blackfish only shows a very negative side which completely misinforms people about SeaWorld.
