Take a Tough Stance on Crime in Alameda County:

The Issue

Dear Mayor Sheng Thao and City Council Members,

We, the undersigned residents of Oakland and concerned citizens of Alameda County, are calling on you to take a tough stance on crime in our community. We believe that the key to reducing crime is to increase funding for law enforcement and crack down on criminal activity.

As you know, Oakland is one of the most dangerous cities in America, with high rates of violent crime, property crime, and theft. We are tired of living in fear and watching criminals operate with impunity.

We call on you to take the following actions to combat crime in our community:

Increase funding for law enforcement: We need to give our police officers the resources they need to keep our communities safe. This includes hiring more police officers, investing in training and technology, and improving community outreach programs.

Crack down on criminal activity: We need to send a strong message to criminals that their behavior will not be tolerated in our community. This includes increasing penalties for crimes such as robbery, burglary, and carjacking, and implementing tougher sentencing for repeat offenders.

Improve community policing: We need to rebuild trust between law enforcement and the community by implementing community policing programs that prioritize transparency, accountability, and community involvement.

Partner with neighboring cities: We need to work with neighboring cities to coordinate efforts to combat crime in our region. This includes sharing resources and intelligence, and coordinating law enforcement efforts.

We believe that these actions are essential to reducing crime in our community and creating a safer, more prosperous Alameda County. We urge you to take a tough stance on crime and prioritize public safety.

Thank you for your attention to this critical issue.

Sincerely,
