Stop Bullying in Tacoma Public Schools

Stop Bullying in Tacoma Public Schools
The Issue
Per the Tacoma Public School district's Regulation 3207R, "District staff who observe, overhear, or otherwise witness harassment, intimidation or bullying, or to whom such actions have been reported, must take prompt and appropriate action to stop the harassment and to prevent its reoccurrence." Many parents and students are reporting that this is not being done. Staff are not reporting and more importantly not informing parents of incidents! Many parents have voiced their concerns with little to no avail.
Our children deserve to feel safe in their learning environment. We demand a plan to address repeated failures by individual schools to properly address safety concerns, including not informing parents of incidents in a timely fashion, improper response/disciplinary action to repeat offenders, and failure of after-school on-site childcare vendors to provide adequate care to enrolled students.
We need to stand together for our most vulnerable. Our children deserve to know there are people they can count to to defend them, when they can't defend themselves.
