TX Bar owners seek pro rated TABC licensing fees for economic loss. Closed now 1/2 of 2020

The Issue

Bars and restaurants pay a very high annual fee for a TABC (Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission) license to sell beer, wine, and spirits. After making a few inquiries, it was determined that TABC has no plan to prorate the licensing fee to suit the present economic crisis. Bars and many music venues have been shut down since March, and restaurants are either closed or at minimal capacity. Many will not reopen at all. At this point business owners have lost ~half of their 2020 revenue due to the covid 19 pandemic. This revenue loss has hit service industry businesses hard, and it's not over yet. This petition is designed to appeal to Gov. Abbott and TABC to prorate our license fees for the next renewal. All who support such action are asked to sign this petition in support of your local watering holes and eateries. We need all the help we can get to make it through to reopening. Thank you for signing in your support!  Cheers!
