Many surrounding counties have the TABC late hours permit where they can serve till 2am every night.... by allowing nightclubs, bars, restaurants, event venues to serve till 2am you increase job opportunities. It also allows establishments to have an increase in cash flow which then in turn creates more opportunities to give back to the community (Charity events, Bigger concerts... ETC)

With Smith County also having 2 of the most successful junior colleges in the state we have a large amount of college-age kids that come from other counties that allow them to drink till 2am. It's a proven fact that counties that allow establishments to serve till 2am see lower alcohol-related crimes and problems with the college-age group due to giving them a space that is monitored by security to drink and controlled by an organization (TABC) that regulates bars and over-serving.

Smith County is a rapidly growing county and has a lot to offer but in many aspects, we are behind the curve on certain things...This being one of them.
