My brother and my cousin were scheduled to travel to Georgia on December 9th, but upon arrival at Tbilisi International Airport, they were denied entry by border officials without any clear, lawful, or transparent explanation.

They had all required and valid documentation, including:

Full COVID-19 vaccination certificate (2 doses)
Negative PCR test result
Round-trip flight tickets
Paid hotel reservation for 3 nights
Full contact details, address, and ID of family members residing in Georgia
Valid Iranian passports (eligible for visa-free entry for up to 45 days under Georgian law)
500 USD in cash

According to Georgian law, as a person under international protection, I have the right to invite my family members to visit me as tourists. However, my 16-year-old brother and my cousin were still denied entry.

This is not an isolated case.

In recent years, the rejection of Iranian nationals at Georgian land and air borders has continued without explanation, without transparency, and often based on unclear or inconsistent reasoning. This pattern raises serious concerns regarding discrimination and violations of fundamental human rights.

At the same time, individuals affiliated with the Islamic Republic of Iran, including members of state institutions such as the IRGC, are able to travel freely and access international privileges without similar restrictions. In contrast, ordinary Iranian citizens face systemic barriers, limitations, and unequal treatment solely based on nationality.

This creates a deeply unjust situation where:

Families are separated for long periods
Individuals with legitimate travel documents are refused entry without explanation
People who own property, businesses, or legal ties in Georgia are denied access
Severe psychological and emotional distress is caused

I, Maryam Sharifi, am a person under international protection in Georgia with a blue passport. I am a lawful resident, a working professional, a taxpayer, and a women’s rights activist.

Despite this, I also face restrictions in basic financial access and services due to my Iranian nationality.

This situation is unacceptable.

Our demands:

Immediate official explanation and accountability from the Government of Georgia
Financial compensation for the damages caused
Re-entry permission for my family and reimbursement of their travel expenses as compensation
An end to discriminatory practices against Iranian travelers holding valid documentation, ensuring equal and fair treatment at all borders

We ask:

Is being Iranian a crime?

Is it a violation to be born with a nationality we did not choose?

We call on the international community and the public to help amplify this message and give voice to those affected by discrimination and unjust border practices.

برادرم و دخترخاله‌ام در تاریخ ۹ دسامبر قصد سفر به گرجستان را داشتند، اما در فرودگاه تفلیس بدون ارائه هیچ دلیل قانونی یا منطقی، توسط مأموران مرزی از ورود آن‌ها جلوگیری شد.

در حالی که آن‌ها تمامی مدارک لازم را همراه داشتند، از جمله:

گواهی کامل واکسیناسیون کووید-۱۹ (دو دوز)
تست منفی PCR
بلیط رفت و برگشت
رزرو و پرداخت هتل برای ۳ شب

پاسپورت معتبر ایرانی (با امکان ورود بدون ویزا تا ۴۵ روز)

طبق قوانین گرجستان، من به عنوان فردی دارای حمایت بین‌المللی (پناهنده)، حق دارم اعضای خانواده‌ام را برای دیدار به این کشور دعوت کنم. با این حال، به برادر ۱۶ ساله من و دخترخاله‌ام اجازه ورود داده نشد.

این اتفاق یک مورد استثنایی نیست. در سال‌های اخیر، رد کردن (ریجکت کردن) ایرانیان در مرزهای زمینی و هوایی گرجستان بدون ارائه دلیل، بدون شفافیت، و حتی با دلایل غیرواقعی همچنان ادامه دارد. این روند، نقض آشکار حقوق بشر و اصول عدم تبعیض است.

در حالی که:

مقامات جمهوری اسلامی و اعضای نهادهایی مانند سپاه پاسداران (IRGC) بدون هیچ محدودیتی به بسیاری از کشورها سفر می‌کنند و از حقوق کامل برخوردارند،

اما یک شهروند عادی ایرانی تنها به دلیل ملیت خود، با محدودیت، تحقیر، و محرومیت از حقوق انسانی و شهروندی مواجه می‌شود.

این تبعیض ناعادلانه باعث شده:

خانواده‌های بسیاری از هم جدا بمانند
افراد دارای خانه، کار یا سرمایه در گرجستان از ورود محروم شوند
فشارهای روحی و روانی شدید به افراد وارد شود

من، مریم شریفی، دارای حمایت بین‌المللی در گرجستان، دارای پاسپورت آبی، شاغل، قانون‌مدار، و فعال حقوق زنان هستم و مالیات پرداخت می‌کنم.

با این حال، حتی من نیز به دلیل ملیت ایرانی‌ام از برخی حقوق اولیه مانند دسترسی به خدمات بانکی بین‌المللی محروم هستم.

این شرایط غیرقابل قبول است.

خواسته‌های ما:

پاسخگویی فوری دولت گرجستان در قبال این رفتارها
جبران خسارات مالی وارد شده
صدور مجوز ورود برای خانواده من و تأمین هزینه‌های سفر به عنوان غرامت
پایان دادن به رفتارهای تبعیض‌آمیز و اجازه ورود به تمامی مسافران ایرانی دارای مدارک معتبرما می‌پرسیم:

آیا ایرانی بودن جرم است؟

آیا داشتن ملیتی که انتخاب آن در اختیار ما نبوده، باید باعث محرومیت از حقوق انسانی شود؟
