Ban plastic packaging for girl scout cookies

Ban plastic packaging for girl scout cookies

The Issue

Originally, girl scout cookies were packaged in cardboard boxes. Now they have changed two of their cookie varieties to plastic wrapping. This is inconvenient and bad for the environment.

For example, after opening the plastic package, the cookies can't be put back in again for storage, like the boxes can. Then, customers might need to use another plastic bag to store the cookies in. This is overall bad for the environment. The boxes that were originally used for all of the cookies are recyclable. The new packaging is plastic and goes to landfills instead.

The girl scout law encourages girl to make the world a better place. This is virtually the opposite. It also says to be considerate, and they are not being very considerate to the environment by using plastic wrapping. Overall, it was a bad idea to use plastic in the first place and it should not be continued.
