Hello, my name is Jacob Wilson and I am one of the Captains for the Sweet Home Boys Varsity Soccer Team. 

As of recent events and discussion among the Sweet Home School Board, the fall season for Boys and Girls Soccer, Field Hockey, Gymnastics, Girls Swimming and Girls Tennis(Doubles) is in great jeopardy. Right now the Sweet Home School District is one of the only schools in Section 6 that is unable to play and participate in the 2020 Fall Season. 

What this means is that Sweet Home Athletes will have no season in all of 2020-2021. To the Athletes this is extremely unfair. To be one of the only schools not allowed to play is a hard hit. To watch all of the other schools play and for us to not be able to is extremely unfair and not right. 

Sports to us Athletes is more than just an extracurricular activity. Our teams are family’s, and we depend on our sports to be there. During times like these, we have already had to face not being able to go to school for the last quarter of the 2019-2020 school year. On top of that our summers were completely uprooted. The one thing that all of us looked forward to and kept us going during these hard times was the hope for our sports. And taking that away from us completely is just not ok. Taking away one of the only things that let us athletes escape from the stress of school during times like these. Taking away the joy that our sports bring us is simply not right. 

We were told weeks ago that there would be a final decision on our Fall Seasons soon. We have not heard any definite decisions on what the fate of our seasons will looks like. We were told by the state that we would be able to start the 21st. Any further delay can and will compromise our seasons. 

We have to make this change now and quickly. We need to show the Sweet Home School Board and the School District that we will not accept this. That we will not let our season get destroyed. That we will not let our seniors miss out on one of their last ever sports seasons.
