Swansea Mews - Community Housing gone so very wrong - write to Mayor Chow !!
Please write to Mayor_Chow@toronto.ca and call her on 416 397 2489. Insist that she and Council MUST defer any vote on March 25-27, regarding the rezoning of the 21 Windermere Avenue site until the Milestones enshrined in law are met. With incomplete or non existent studies, reports that are misleading, and a suggested community consultation process as having taken place is outrageous. The 'Open House' was both intimidating and negligent. Former Residents , forced out in emergency circumstances almost four years ago, and scattered across the City deserve better.
SwanseaMatters.com exposes the truth as to what has transpired, and provides a comprehensive detailing of facts. There is an example of a good letter to write to the Mayor and Councillors insisting that they uphold the law, and defer any vote until a proper proposal is provided for scrutiny.
Trying to impose high rises in this current market, and trying to support it with a shopping plaza at its base is ridiculous. The neighbourhood can't handle the density, so they've chosen not to provide the study that proves it. !
And there is even a viable alternative, SwanseaPark.ca , however the City has not shown it to the former residents, neighbours and community. That's not only immoral, it's illegal!
SwanseaMatters.com had to be created to expose the facts. If this could happen in Swansea Village, it could happen in your neighbourhood too. It's OUR City, and our elected officials are expected to meet the standards required by law in our society.
So please take the 2 minutes to visit the site, and write, and call the officials who we elected. You'll be glad that you did, as you will be supporting the people in this City that you'd be proud to call your neighbours and who need your help and support today. Mayor Chow tells us to let her know if there is a problem - there is a problem!
