December 5th in Naples, FL at the Swamp Buggy Races it became clear that politics are more important than actual facts. One of the final races of the day featured Eddie Chesser “The Outlaw” vs Brian Langford “Rubber Duck”. Despite being positioned on the outside (the more difficult lane), Chesser was ahead of Langford the entire race. The judges “apparently” decided to disqualify Chesser saying that he didn’t give Langford enough room and impeded his ability to pass Chesser from the inside lane. It was clear to spectators (not related to Langford) that he was never in the lead, never particularly close, and had plenty of room to make a move if he needed to. Video evidence shows the exact same to hold true. However, Swamp Buggy Inc. chose to ignore this clear and obvious evidence. It is worth noting, the entire race weekend was named in Langford’s late father’s honor. Thus, it can only be inferred that Swamp Buggy Inc. chose politics over what was right. We the fans will not stand for this gross abandonment of good judgment. We will not let politics dictate the outcome of a sport with such a rich history. We want the board to publicly admit they were wrong and state they will not let the integrity of the sport be tarnished again.
