Close Surabaya Zoo!

Close Surabaya Zoo!
The Issue
Surabaya Zoo is a zoo located in Eastern Java, Indonesia. Surabaya, or also known as, "The Zoo of Death," has been reported numerously of animal abuse and neglection, starvation of endangered species, un-controlled breeding populations, etc.
Surabaya is a small 15-hectare zoo that is one of the saddest places on Earth. Species such as tigers, giraffes, komodo dragons, lions, and some other 350 species. The zookeepers are responsible for these zoos many deaths- because the zoo cannot provide its employees with much money (admission is only US $2.00), the zookeepers steal meat and in some cases animals, too, and sell them to the black market. The animals that still live in the zoo are reduced to eating the garbage that the audience throws at them. For example, a giraffe died after he had consumed nearly 18kg of plastic from the visitors. 100 other animals died since last year's summer.
And if that weren't enough, un-controlled breeding populations have risen- which led to even more deaths and injuries. Nearly 200 pelicans live in one basketball court-sized room, and tigers are crammed into small cages which don't give them any room to excersise.
While some animals are being released, they will never get a chance to survive in the wild. Sign our petition to speak up for these half-dead species. Tell Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to close Surabaya Zoo!
