New Mexico: 50th in Education - Let's demand accountability and educate our children!

The Issue

We all would like to see our children succeed. Our state has perennially been 48th to 50th in education in the United States. It is time that we not only recognize the problem, but become a part of the solution. It must begin with us joining together to petition our leaders to make the changes that are needed to reverse this trend, and put our children first.

Our state's education website, www.ped.state.nm.us slogan is "Kids First, New Mexico Wins". This is clearly just a political statement and not a priority.

New Mexico is 49th in overall child well-being. This means that our system is not only broken, but our children are going to school unprepared to learn. We believe together we can change this. However, it will take all of us who care to bring this change to pass.

The first step is that we must get the attention of our leaders. This petition with all of our signatures will be seen by the leaders in our state and those who represent us at the federal level. We can do this!

Regardless of political party or beliefs, this impacts us all. We must stand up for our children together.

Please sign now and also include your children's signatures. Our kids deserve better!

Here is an article about the national education ranking in New Mexico: NM again ranks 49th in child well-being, 50th in education
