As a designated off-lead area, Crispe Park is very popular dog owners in Reservoir. Many people drive up to several kilometers to walk their dogs at the park, which is also used by local football and cricket clubs. During mornings, evenings and weekends, the park is often populated with many people and dogs, walking and socialising.

While the park is available during the day, many people are at work during business hours and are more likely to walk their dog before work, after work or on weekends.

During summer and daylight savings, there is increased access to the park due to the longer daylight hours. During winter however, accessing the park is much more difficult. People who walk their dogs before 7am do so in darkness.

Sadly, there have been reported incidents of distressing attacks on women during both night time and broad daylight in public spaces, including within the City of Darebin and neighboring City of Moreland. Lighting does not prevent crime in isolation, but may be effective when the purpose is to increase visibility at night, and activate an open space and support natural surveillance.
