Human Rights Training and Stress Management for Police Personnel

Human Rights Training and Stress Management for Police Personnel
The Issue
There is no denying that the Police personnel is the frontline protectors around the clock. Be it natural calamity or pandemic or law and order issues or anything, their contribution to society is immense. This is the primary reason why they are provided with more power. But most of them forget that with more power comes more responsibility. There are numerous instances of police brutality where they forget that the subject is human and they themselves are human too. Except for some rare instances, no police personnel wants to kill or extremely harm innocent civilians. But this happens against their intention.
Of course, it is also the public who lose their senses and involve in such brutalities. But people in a responsible position need to behave properly without reciprocating the same action.
Most of the time, it is the ego of being powerful and the work stress due to which they fail to control their senses. They take violent action even if a civilian holds their head high or answers in a high tone.
That is why similar to a periodic physical health checkup, there should be a periodic mental health check-up for police personnel. Stress management should be part of their stressful job. It is their responsibility to just follow the law without getting emotional. Those who fail to clear the psychological test must be provided with necessary guidance by certified psychiatric. Only this emotional and mental support to police personnel can help control their ego and temper and prevent some loss of innocent lives. Human rights training must also be provided to every security personnel before they start their duty. Their ignorance of human rights cannot be justified as well. Only when security personnel and public join hands together, we can build a much better, safe, and stronger society. Without such a strong society, it will be difficult to fight external threats and enemies.
