The Issue

Wrestling and cross country are more than just sports at North Star Academy; they are vital programs that have shaped the lives of countless students. These activities help build character, instill self-discipline, and empower our adolescents, giving them the confidence to feel comfortable in their own skin. As a member of this community, I've seen firsthand how transformative these sports can be for young people.

Unfortunately, there are discussions about discontinuing these programs at North Star Academy, which is a major cause for concern. Maintaining diverse athletic programs is crucial for fostering an inclusive environment where every student can find their passion and excel. Studies show that students involved in sports are likely to achieve higher academic results and develop essential life skills.

Wrestling promotes not only physical strength but mental resilience, teaching students the invaluable lesson that perseverance can overcome adversity. Cross country, on the other hand, encourages endurance, teamwork, and setting personal goals. Both sports offer a sense of community and belonging, vital for adolescent development.

I call upon the administration of North Star Academy to recognize the importance of these programs and ensure they remain part of our school's athletic offerings. At a time when we are striving to provide our students with the best educational experience, cutting these programs would be a step back.

Please join me in preserving wrestling and cross country at North Star Academy by signing this petition. Let's stand together for our students’ futures.
