We are seeking to take legal action against the developers of this project. To minimize its impact. It's too late to stop it but we feel we still can create change and its overall effects on the community.
1. They need to include parking because our streets are maximum capacity.
2. They need to lower the median income to VLI Very Low Income units.
As residents of Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, we are living in one of the most densely populated neighborhoods in the city, where even a single parking space can greatly impact our daily lives. The recently approved ED1 housing development has been permitted without providing a solution for parking, a decision made without community input or consideration of the prevalent parking disparity we already face.
The proposed plan is to build 55 units with no allocation of parking spaces. This is an unprecedented and harmful decision that threatens the livability and sustainability of our community. Ignoring the parking needs of the incoming residents from these 55 units will inevitably exacerbate the existing parking crisis in Boyle Heights.
We understand the need for housing development, but it should never come at the cost of resident's necessities. It is our belief that meaningful community engagement in decision making will lead to more equitable and sustainable solutions to our housing needs.
We, the community of Boyle Heights, Wabash Business Association, ND-1 Colectivo and neighbors, urge the city to reconsider the ED1 housing development plan. We demand transparent engagement processes and adequate parking provisions aligning with the realistic needs of our community. Please join us in voicing our concerns to protect our neighborhood, our rights, and ensure a harmonious cohabitation for all.
Sign this petition to stop the ED1 Housing Development until our community can properly weigh in.
