Every day, Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) across Saskatchewan work tirelessly to provide high-quality care to our patients, contributing significantly to the healthcare system. However, our current union representation under CUPE, SEIU - WEST, and SGEU does not fully align with our professional identity as nurses, nor does it adequately address the unique challenges and responsibilities we face.

Transitioning to the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses (SUN) would place us alongside our Registered Nurse colleagues, acknowledging the critical role LPNs play in delivering comprehensive nursing care. This shift is crucial for enhancing our professional development, advocating for our specific needs, and ensuring that LPNs receive the respect and recognition they deserve within the healthcare framework.

SUN has a strong track record of advocating for the nursing profession, negotiating robust collective agreements, and ensuring that the voices of its members are heard. By affiliating with SUN, we can leverage their expertise and resources to improve working conditions, access continual professional education, and participate in a community that genuinely understands and supports our mission.

The current representation under CUPE, SEIU - WEST, and SGEU has limitations that can impact patient care and our professional growth. With SUN's support, we would have a dedicated platform to address issues unique to the nursing field, such as addressing staffing shortages, promoting safe work environments, and negotiating for fair wages and benefits that reflect our contributions.

We, the undersigned Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) of Saskatchewan, believe that representation under the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses (SUN) would better reflect our professional roles, responsibilities, and commitment to nursing excellence in Saskatchewan.
